The meaning of self-esteem

Self-esteem is your overall personal evaluation of yourself - it is looking into a “psychological mirror” that reflects your physical appearance, traits, abilities, values, beliefs and preferences - and then liking or disliking what you see.
Having a healthy self-esteem means having a positive outlook in life and accepting yourself for who you are. While a low self-esteem occurs when people constantly worry about not being good enough.

Improving your self-esteem

Changing the way you think about yourself will change how you feel and improve your self-esteem. The key is to recognise your thinking patterns - once you do this, you can work towards improving your self-esteem.
You are the only person who knows what you are proud of and what you are insecure about. Hence, you are the only one who is capable of boosting your self-esteem. There are ways to practise self-acceptance and raise your self-esteem.

Set realistic and achievable goals - the goals you set should not be too easy but not overly challenging as well
